That's what it takes to have a radio show at CHIRP… you volunteer your time, you get up early, or you give up an evening or an afternoon or a morning, and you come in and do your best to play great music for the people. It is very fun, and it is very rewarding, but it is work!

And there is other work to do—we have software tools for our DJs that we have built, and I helped design. We have audio production work, interviewing, marketing, promotions, design… not to mention everything that the music department does to keep fresh music coming in for the DJs to play. And we do all of this almost entirely with volunteers! But still, we have bills to pay. Rent, streaming costs, equipment repair, etc etc etc.
