CHIRP Radio is a unique community resource in Chicago (107.1 fm) and worldwide (chirpradio.org). Commercial free, nonprofit, community driven, real djs - CHIRP provides access to independent music from around the world, and highlights local Chicago music like no other radio station on the airwaves. 

With corporate consolidated media companies bringing commercial radio down to the lowest common denominator, playing the same songs over and over, and bombarding us with constant ads, it can feel like radio is a dead medium, devoid of creativity and variety. Not CHIRP! Where else can you hear a new-to-you local Chicago artist, jazz, punk, hip-hop, and everything in between, all in one hour (every hour)? Where else can you text a request to a radio dj live on the air and then hear your requested song in short-order?  Nowhere but CHIRP.

CHIRP helped me get through COVID, creating a sense of community and closeness I didn’t know I needed and didn’t know was possible through radio. After years of listening, I started volunteering for CHIRP in 2025, and the experience has been rejuvenating - caring, inclusive, dedicated volunteers running a top-notch radio station in their free time. It’s really amazing.
