As you probably know, I am involved with CHIRPradio.org, Chicago’s community radio station. I’ve been involved with CHIRP since day one, and am currently serving as President of the Board of Directors, as well as DJing on Sunday afternoons from 4-6pm CST. CHIRP is important to me because there is no other radio station in our city – and let’s be honest, not a lot in our country – that focuses on independent music, artists and labels in a non-commercial, volunteer-driven environment. We’ve grown CHIRP from a dozen of us eating burgers at Moodys and dreaming of a station of our own into a fully operational radio station, broadcasting live and local from studios in the North Center neighborhood 365 days a year, with the support of over 250 volunteers and just two part time staffers.

After years of work, we're now on the cusp of launching our broadcast license on October 7, 2015 at 1pm. This is an amazing achievement after all of our years of hard work, but of course, it comes with increased expenses to the tune of $15,000 per year - so, we need to keep fundraising. If you share my passion for independent music, for independent media, for diverse voices in broadcasting, I hope you'll give a donation of what you can to CHIRP today. We know you are already part of the CHIRP community - now we need you to be a part of our giving community too.
