Hello!

I have awesome news! On Oct 21 at 12pm, CHIRP Radio is going live on 107.1 FM in Chicago. It's not the whole city, granted, but it is the area we set out to broadcast to when we launched 10 years ago. If you listen to my show on Saturdays at 2pm, nothing will really change for you. It's just that for people driving around on the far north side, or cleaning their kitchen, or painting their garage, you might intentionally or unintentionally stumble upon us on the actual radio dial. We've always intended to be the little guy, which is why we campaigned so hard to get passed the Local Community Radio Act which takes the power out of the hands of the big guys and gives little guys like us a chance. So now we've poured 10 years of hard work, grass roots campaigning, and word of mouth to get to this point, and we are excited to have you with us on this next development of the life of our station. 

I have been involved with this thing since 2009. I was a member before we started streaming online. In that time I have shaken hands, taken signatures, handed out buttons and fliers, reviewed albums for airplay, read and sent thousands of emails, interviewed bands and writers, edited audio, gotten butts into seats and headphones onto ears, and copy, SO MUCH copy. 

This is work that I have done so you don't have to. 

And now we are here, and we are launching, on Oct 21, on RADIO radio. 

And that is where you come in. 

In addition to the other normal expenses we accrue in a year, running the terestrial radio will had something like $15k to our annual budget. We're not mad though, this is what we always wanted. But that means we need to ask for a little bit more money, spread out across more people. 

If you help me reach my fundraising goal, I will make you an individual playlist on a medium of your choosing (within reason). I want to make a LOT of playlists so I need more small individual donations this year than before. So maybe 50 people will donate $10, or 10 people will donate $50, whatever level you're comfortable with. Please just help me reach my goal so we can keep the station running and kick off an awesome launch for our new station at 107.1FM!
