After the devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, all of us are being asked to make donations to the Red Cross and other worthy organizations. So why consider digging deeper into your pockets to contribute to CHIRP Radio's Fall 2017 Fund-Raising Campaign?
Because you have the chance to make history. After 10 years of hard work and listener support, CHIRP finally will be on the air in Chicago on 107.1 FM, beginning October 21, 2017. Now you can enjoy CHIRP on your car radio while cruising along Lake Shore Drive, at the beach or in your home or office. While this is exciting news for CHIRP's Chicago listeners, it also brings an added layer of expenses that come from running a non-commerical, terrestrial radio station, which is why we need your generous support.
I discovered CHIRP Radio at a Trail of Dead concert in 2011 and have been a regular listener and donor ever since. I also host a regular show Friday afternoons from 12 noon to 3 pm.
What inspires me to donate my time and money to this wonderful and unique radio station?
Quite simply, it's our music, programming and live events. CHIRP spotlights great Chicago independent artists, as well as musicians from around the world. Without CHIRP, many of these artists would not be heard on any platforms, including Spotify and Pandora. CHIRP is a vital part of Chicago's music scene and our shows stream around the world via our free CHIRP Android and iPhone apps and Website.
To honor our new frequency of 107.1 FM, my goal is to raise $1,071 for CHIRP's 2017 Fall Fund-Raising Drive. Here's my offer to you. I WILL MATCH EVERY DOLLAR THAT IS RAISED ON MY PERSONAL FUND-RAISING PAGE (UP TO $571 TOTAL). You contribute $25; I will contribute $25. Raise your contribution to $100 and I will contribute $100.
Keep in mind that your dontation is 100% tax-deductible. Everyone who contributes $60 will receive a really cool CHIRP Limited Edition commemorative poster designed by screen printer Dan Grzeca. I have already reserved a spot on my living room wall for it! And everyone who gives during the course of the drive will receive an automatic entry into a drawing to win a two-night, Downtown Weekend Package at the fabulous new Ace Hotel, including one breakfast and dinner at City Mouse,Chef Jason Vincent's new restaurant.
