This will be the first CHIRP fundraising campaign since we launched our FM broadcast (at 107.1 FM) on October 21, 2017. I was lucky to be co-hosting with our founder Shawn Campbell when we flipped the switch on our transmitter at noon that day. It was emotional and it was exciting. And our listeners shared in the excitement. Since then, we've picked up even more listeners, as being on the radio dial makes a big difference. But broadcasting involves more expenses and more things that might go wrong. Moreover, we are slowly but surely getting closer to 24-hour a day broadcasting and adding more podcasts and developing more partnerships (like the Chicago Humanities Festival) and just...more.

We are still, and will always be, a listener supported, non-commercial station, so your donation can help us keep up our quality programming. And so many have donated already -- 26 donations in the first six days of the campaign. My original goal was $800, I raised it to $1000, and by the end of St. Patrick's Day I hit $1000 on the nose. So I raised my goal to $1500. And made that three days later. And now I'm up to $1700. Even better, I made my goal of 50 donors, which I was not originally sure I could come close to. With 24 hours left in the campaign, as I write this, I'm setting a one day goal -- five more donations and $100. Can you spare $10? $20? Your donation will help me keep doing my Saturday show,and training new DJs, and the other behind the scenes stuff I do. Every person who donates $10 or more, I will give you a shout out on the air and play a cool cover tune in your honor on a future show. Donate $30 or more, I'll send you a musical surprise.
