Hi folks! I've been a volunteer with CHIRP Radio since the very beginning, and I was one of the first DJs here.

I've found that a lot of people don't realize I'm a volunteer—“This is you job, right? You work at a radio station?” No, I do not. I do this for love of radio; I give my time to help make this station go. And I love it! I even love getting up at 5am once a week to come in a DJ a three-hour music set first thing Friday mornings. I love setting people's weekends up with the music I chose for them.

Even though we are almost entirely volunteer run, we still have expenses to pay. We have rent on the studio and rent on the building rooftop where our transmitter is; we have royalty costs; we have equipment costs. It adds up. Most of this money comes from direct donations from listeners and friends of the station–i.e. YOU.
