My CHIRP story began back in 2015, when I decided to make the switch from being an active listener to being an active volunteer. After attending my first meeting, I was hooked — and almost three years later I'm as invested as ever; DJing on air every week, tabling at events around the city, designing marketing materials, writing album reviews, and stepping up alongside 250 other volunteers to make CHIRP the strong, independent community radio station that it is today!
Whether you are here because you're already a supporter of CHIRP (The Chicago Independent Radio Project), because you are a lover of good music, or because you know me and saw my ask for help — CHIRP needs your support!
We have been broadcasting great music online for years, and next month we will also celebrate the one year anniversary of our terrestrial broadcast at 107.1FM (on Chicago's north side)! However, maintaining our broadcast tower has added up to $15,000 in additional costs each year. Our volunteers help to keep the station operating smoothly every day, but we need your financial contribution to ensure that it will continue happening for years to come.
We've been curating and promoting independent music, arts & culture for over 10 years, and our volunteer DJs always play great, commercial-free music; our focus on diverse, local, and underrepresented artists makes us something you won't find anywhere else.

We are still doing all the great things that you have come to know and love—hosting awesome music-centric events (CHIRP Night at the Whistler, The First Time storytelling & music series, and our highly anticipated record fairs, just to name a few), creating all self-produced content for our blog and podcast, and partnering with many local businesses, artists, and organizations to bring a variety of fresh content to our amazing listeners and supporters.
