Not long ago, I gathered with friends in a room and listened as static crackled, electricity flew through the air, and I heard the words "This is CHIRP Radio" come from the speakers as 107.1FM went live from our antenna in Chicago. It was a dream that I and other passionate community radio activists had worked for many years. Within hours, we began to get calls, emails and tweets from people just discovering the station, asking "Who ARE you?!"
