I like to think about my experiences growing up listening to albums played on the record player in the house, from Emmylou to Van Morrison to the Muppets to Cyndi Lauper. I was taught early to put records on myself and how to dance so the needle wouldn't skip when I came bouncing by. I loved the feeling I'd get when there was a song I could sing along to - I'd feel energized and didn't want to stop moving and grooving. Not much has changed since then, except perhaps the bands. Being a part of something like community radio means I continuously learn about new music to which to bounce. 

Chicago Radio Project, CHIRP, offers an opportunity to participate in something different for each volunteer, from production to interviews to DJing to working with the public. As well, Chirp offers a range of opportunities for listeners, from podcasts to First Time events to current local bands played hourly. There is a reason for all to tune in and Hear What's Next! 

However, we can't do any of this without our listeners.
