It’s still hard to believe that we are celebrating 10 years of CHIRP Radio streaming on the internet. In that time, I’ve done, as of the beginning of March, 467 shows. It’s quite the accomplishment. But we’re not resting on our laurels at CHIRP. We are trying to get more members of the community involved, trying to expand our music library so it’s more amazing than ever, and hoping to someday have programming around the clock.

And since this is my fundraising page, it will be no surprise that keeping a radio station running, whether it’s on 18, 21, or 24 hours a day, requires money. And CHIRP significantly relies on donation from members of the community such as use. We have all sorts of regular expenses. Like rent. Not just for our studio space, but also for the roof where our transmitter is located. And since we play so much music, we have to pay licensing fees. Then there are fees for streaming, along with fees to make sure what’s going on in the studio goes the transmitter. Furthermore, equipment breaks down and needs repairing or replacing. This is why I'm trying to raise $1000 during this campaign, and trying, yet again, 50 donors. I've met the $1000 goal before, but only come close to 50 donors once. Maybe you can help me reach both goals this time.

Your donations help us pay for all of the stuff I talked about in the previous paragraph. When it’s paid for, it allows us to keep programming live original programming. CHIRP is a clear alternative to commercial radio. Our DJs program their own shows. It’s not some algorithm. And unlike commercial radio, the folks you hear on the air volunteered. CHIRP only has two paid positions and 200+ volunteers. For going on 13 (or is it 14?) years, I’ve given of my own time, not just as a DJ, but in other capacities for CHIRP.
