Spring is here (at least meteorological spring), and it's time for CHIRP Radio’s Spring 2022 Fundraising campaign. Since the last campaign, a lot of things have remained the same, as the pandemic kept us from having events, and meant that we continued with our protocols to keep all DJs safe. Another thing that remained the same was the incredible support we receive from folks like you. After a record campaign in Spring 2021, we did even better in Fall 2021. Given that we’ll have to delay our annual Record Fair at Plumber’s Union Hall yet again (but we hope to return in October, if CRV-19 is finally under control), and that’s our largest fundraiser, we’re again counting on having a great campaign, so we can pay our bills and keep providing the quality music programming, podcasts, blog posts, and other things that make CHIRP special. 

Although CHIRP only has one paid employee and is otherwise staffed by volunteers, we incur the same expenses other radio stations have, including rent, transmitter fees, streaming fees, licensing, equipment, and other things. Your donation can keep us going strong as we try to program more local (i.e., Chicago and vicinity), independent, and underappreciated music than any other station. We are constantly getting emails and other messages from listeners who appreciate the alternative we provide to mainstream radio. And speaking for myself, during the pandemic, being able to do my show week after week is a great respite from the more limited existence we all have had to live for the past two years. I’ve intensified how I prepare for my shows, and I hope that it’s reflected in the music I play and how I mix up different genres and eras. 

My goal for this campaign is to raise $2800 (was originally a $1700 goal). I’d also like to see if I can get 40 or more people to donate. To show how much I believe in CHIRP and its mission, I will again match the first $700 in donations in my name during the campaign. And, as always, I will dedicate a cool cover on an upcoming show to anyone who donates $10 or more in my name, and will send a cool musical surprise (and dedicate the cover) to anyone who donates $30 or more.
