What a year it's been for me. I was hospitalized several times, caught COVID (even though I was triple-vaxxed), became a Florida resident, and most importantly, continued DJing for my favorite radio station, CHIRP-107.1 FM/Chicago, thanks to the magic of livestreaming.

If you haven't noticed, I am back on my Friday afternoon slot, from noon-3 pm, broadcasting remotely from my Florida studio with my buddy Dexter, and occasionally from Chicago, when I am back in town.

Like you, the Chicago Independent Radio Project (CHIRP) keeps me connected to Chicago's vibrant music community, and now that COVID seems to be in decline, I am so happy that concerts are selling out again and I enjoy keeping you up-to-date on everything that is happening music-wise in our great city during my show, which is now called "The Friday Spin."

Throughout the pandemic, CHIRP has been there for you, broadcasting 24-hours a day, seven days a week, with live programming a minimum of 18 hours per day. One of the positive things for me personally that emerged from the COVID pandemic was to regularly experience the connection between listeners and CHIRP. I received dozens of emails from worried listeners when I caught COVID (don't worry, I'm okay) and continued to do my show safely and remotely from my home studio. I love playing your requests and it makes my day when a listener acknowledges a cool song or set that I play.

CHIRP is an important part of my life. It's the reason I have been a sustaining CHIRP donor for more than 10 years. Throughout the pandemic, CHIRP has remained on the air, but we were forced to cancel most of our live events, including our record fairs, which dried up vital sources of funding the radio station.
