Here we are wrapping up another year. Hard to believe it’s already September and time for the CHIRP Fall Fundraiser. The station reaches out two times a year to help with funding. Did you know that two thirds of our budget come from donations from listeners? It’s true that our supporters and listeners are what keeps the station on the air.

I joined CHIRP radio in February of 2012 after missing the camaraderie and excitement of college radio. Fortunately, CHIRP provided a way to connect with other people passionate about radio, music, and an alternative to the cookie-cutter and focus grouped to death formatting of commercial radio stations. I feel blessed to have hosted The Friday Afternoon Happy Hour since May of 2012 (11 years and counting!) as well as serving as one of the Music Directors at the station.

CHIRP is truly a community radio station, partnering with other non-profits, sponsoring events and concerts, providing an outlet for local bands to be heard (music and interviews,) and hosting our own unique events such as the annual CHIRP Record Fair (coming in October) and our first-ever, inaugural CHIRP Film Festival that just wrapped up. We couldn’t do any of this without your support.
