I started volunteering with CHIRP right before the 10th anniversary. Today we're celebrating 15 years of community, local, independent radio. CHIRP depends on all of us (I"m a sustaining member!) as a non-commercial, not for profit station. Your donations keep the station going- from buying new music and supporting local artists (when necessary) to replacing turntable needles, headphones, mic screens, repairs, and on and on. 

I have gotten a lot of personal fulfillment out of my experience with ChIRP. I'm an assistant music director where I sift through submissions from the public, I add music to our weekly rotation, I speak to new volunteers, I DJ on thursday mornings, 6-9am before work, where I get to interact with listeners. One listener once shared via email that he'd just been bitten by a dog and needed to hear a song to get him in a better mood! OMG! Radio is so uniting and powerful-- more powerful than just poking through a streaming app and finding the song. We all shared his experience when I played the song and made the dedication. It's hard to believe that it's been a decade and a half since we launched the station! Some things have changed a lot, but what's stayed the same is our commitment to bringing you live, local, commercial-free music programming lovingly curated by our DJs every single day, plus dozens of events that showcase our city's diverse music, arts and cultural scenes.

In 2025 we're celebrating our history while looking to the future, including rebuilding our website and mobile app into a sleek integrated web app that we know you'll love.
