What do you know about CHIRP Radio? You probably know that we're an independent community radio station in Chicago broadcasting on 107.1 FM in the city and chirpradio.org everywhere else. You might also know that CHIRP has no commercials, featuring real human DJs all day every day and prioritizing local Chicago artists without taking any breaks for annoying advertisements. It's possible you even know that CHIRP runs cool and creative events all over Chicago on a regular basis, from concerts to listening bars to trivia nights and tons more. All of this is carried out and supported by an all-volunteer staff of awesome like-minded people, but such a large-scale operation does need money to survive, and without commercials we rely entirely on the generosity of listeners and donors to keep the lights on and stay on the air.

In a music economy that's increasingly dominated by streaming platforms, AI algorithms, and pay-for-play sponsored playlists, a resource like CHIRP is a truly invaluable asset, a station staffed by a diverse and passionate collection of true blue Chicagoans who aren't trying to pitch you anything other than their favorite new songs. Above all else, CHIRP is a community, one I'm very proud and grateful to be a part of, and one that fills a crucial role that fewer and fewer people and organizations are filling: bringing people together, providing local artists a meaningful platform, and offering genuine thoughtful curation that you'll never be able to get from an app. It would mean a whole lot to me if you'd be willing to contribute to CHIRP - a little goes a long way!
