The Chicago Independent Radio Project is more than a radio station. It's a community, still growing 15 years on. CHIRP Radio seems to be at all the Chicago street fairs, recruiting listeners and artists. Chicago Independents' Day (at right) has spread into a weekend of tours, panels and makers' markets. CHIRP Welcomes features local and national indie artists in relaxed settings, and the CHIRP Music Film Festival has a glorious new home at the Music Box Theatre.

CHIRP Radio runs with no federal funds; Chicago music lovers make it all happen. I'm one of 260+ CHIRP Radio DJs and event volunteers, and a sustaining member. Thank you for joining me in supporting music discovery and Chicago creative scenes.
